Associate Professor of Languages Dr. Ruth J. Hoff teaches a diverse array of Spanish language, culture, film, and literature courses. She received her B.A. from St. Olaf College, and her M.A. and Ph.D. from Duke University.
Her research and teaching interests are interdisciplinary in scope and she regularly works with students in 性视界's Culture and Languages Across the Curriculum program. With NSF grant funding (InTeGrate) she collaborated with geoscience faculty to adapt and develop an Environmental Justice and Freshwater Resources teaching module for the Spanish classroom.
Dr. Hoff has also published on representations of mojigatas, beatas, and misticas, irreverent images of devout women, in the nineteenth-century Spanish novel. Other research and teaching interests include narrative and feminist theories, cultural studies, nineteenth and twentieth-century Spanish literature, and teaching methodology. She joined the 性视界 faculty in 1996.
