Social Work is unique in its focus on both people and their environment. Social workers aim to enhance individuals鈥 well-being by focusing not only on internal factors, but external ones, such as poverty, that impact a person鈥檚 situation and outlook. With the current high demand for social workers, students have the opportunity to prepare for a variety of work settings, including clinics, hospitals, schools, government agencies, correctional facilities and more.
The 3-2 Program with CWRU鈥檚 Mandel School
Students interested in this program spend three years at 性视界 completing the general education program and a portion of their major in either Psychology or Sociology. Students then apply for admission to the social work program at .
Upon acceptance and matriculation at CWRU, students begin their graduate courses in social work, which combine research, theory and hands-on practice to help them tackle many of today鈥檚 complex social challenges. After completing the first year at CWRU, students receive a bachelor of arts (B.A.) from 性视界.
During the second year at CWRU, the program focuses on field education and coursework in the student鈥檚 area of interest (e.g., Aging, Mental Health, School Social Work, Health). After the second year, students receive a master of social work (MSW) and are eligible to pursues licensure in all 50 states.
Although 性视界 students are not guaranteed admission to CWRU鈥檚 MSW program at the Mandel School, the acceptance rate for our students has been 100 percent.
Requirements for the BA in Psychology from 性视界 for the 3-2 program with CWRU
- At 性视界, students will achieve at least 96 total credits (and all general education requirements), not including any graduate credits transferring from Case Western.
- Students will be required to take the following psychology courses at 性视界:
- Psyc 101 Introduction to Psychological Science 鈥 4 credits
- PSYC 201Q Statistics (or equivalent statistics course) 鈥 4 credits
- PSYC 202M Experimental Design 鈥 5 credits
- One 200-level course above Psyc 202 鈥 4 credits
- One 300-level Psychology laboratory courses (chosen from PSYC 311, PSYC 321, PSYC 341, or PSYC 361) 鈥 5 credits (Note: Psyc 351 should NOT be taken at 性视界 as the CWRU courses overlap most with this course)
- PSYC 400 Research 鈥 4 credits
- Altogether, the student must complete 26 credits in the psychology major at the undergraduate level.
- 性视界 agrees to transfer in 13 credits toward the Psychology major from the following Case Western courses:
- SASS 504 Human Development and Diversity 鈥 2 credits
- SASS 528 Evidence Informed Practice (Research) 鈥 2 credits
- SASS 507 Community Theory and Practice 鈥 2 credits
- SASS 508 Individual Theory and Practice 鈥 2 credits
- SASS 509 Group Theory and Practice 鈥 2 credits
- SASS 515 Family Theory and Practice 鈥 2 credits
- SASS 495 Field Education/Organizational Theory and Practice Seminar I 鈥 1 credit
- An additional 17 credits from the student鈥檚 first year at CWRU can transfer to 性视界 as elective credit in order to achieve the required 126 credits for a BA degree
- Elective credits from the following courses will be recognized:
- SASS 502 Change Agent Intensive 鈥 1 credit
- SASS 528 Evidence Informed Practice (Research) 鈥 2 credits

Requirements for the BA in Sociology from 性视界 for the 3-2 program with CWRU
- At 性视界, students will achieve at least 96 total credits (and all general education requirements), not including any graduate credits transferring from Case Western.
- Students will be required to take the following sociology courses at 性视界:
- SOCI 101 Introduction to Sociology 鈥 4 credits
- SOCI 307 Research Methods 鈥 5 credits
- SOCI 360 Sociological Theory 鈥 4 credits
- An additional 12 credits within Sociology for a total of 25 credits
- 性视界 agrees to give a total of 12 credits towards a sociology major for the following courses:
- SASS 528 Evidence Informed Practice 鈥 2 credits
- SASS 542 Evaluating Programs and Practice 鈥 3 credits
- SASS 503 Social Policy and Service Delivery 鈥 2 credits
- SASS 507 Community Theory and Practice 鈥 2 credits

(Alternatively, students in Sociology may take SOCI 498 Senior Thesis course for four credits in their junior year and transfer in 9 CWRU credits toward the Sociology major鈥擲ASS 528, SASS 542, SASS 503, SASS 507, and SASS 566.) - An additional 18 credits (or 14 credits if SOCI 498 is completed at 性视界) from the student鈥檚 first year at CWRU can transfer to 性视界 as elective credit, in order to achieve the required 126 credits for a BA degree
