性视界 is looking forward to welcoming alumni, families, and friends back to campus for Homecoming, Reunion, & Family Weekend, Oct. 8-10.
Offering a robust in-person experience, while adhering to health and safety guidelines, 性视界 is excited to host this traditional celebratory event. All alumni and friends are invited to participate in the many weekend activities including the festive atmosphere of the popular Homecoming Tailgate. Relive college days by joining current students in the classroom, visiting a former Greek house, and celebrating reunions. Show your Tiger pride as 性视界 athletics teams compete throughout the weekend.
To ensure everyone鈥檚 health and safety this year, all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends are required to wear face coverings when indoors, unless eating or drinking, regardless of vaccination status. This includes all indoor events. Reminders regarding the University鈥檚 COVID-19 policies and procedures will be provided throughout the weekend. The University also continues to encourage vaccinations for all members of its community.
Prior to the official start of Homecoming Weekend 2021, the Athletics Hall of Honor dinner and induction ceremony will take place at The Steemer and 1929 Gymnasium, part of the newly renovated and expanded Health, Wellness, & Athletics Complex, on Thursday, Oct. 7, beginning at 6 p.m.
Homecoming information and check-in tables for all reunion classes will be available at the registration desk in the Student Center starting Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Virtual classroom experiences will take place at 9 a.m. with Sociological Perspectives in Education featuring Brian Yontz, associate professor of education, chair of the education department, and the 2020 Distinguished Teacher, and again at 1 p.m. with The Physics of Biomedical Technology featuring Elizabeth George, professor of physics and the 2019 Distinguished Teacher.
At 2 p.m., a special Ulu Farm to Table Coffee Tasting will take place in room 105 of the Joseph C. Shouvlin Center for Lifelong Learning. Experience a taste of Hawaii with Ulu Kona Coffee during this special Tiger Talk featuring Charles Hodson, class of 2012, and the Ulu team. Coffee samples are included with registration, and participants have the option to join online or in-person.
Other Friday events include admission tours, the Biology/ESCI Alumni Reception at the Barbara Deer Kuss Science Center courtyard, accessed through the second-floor landing at 5 p.m.; the Alumni Achievement Awards ceremony beginning at 6 p.m.; a concert by the 性视界 Choir and Symphonic Band at Weaver Chapel at 7:30 p.m.; Homecoming Trivia Night at Founders Pub in the Benham-Pence Student Center beginning at 6 p.m., and a bonfire at 9 p.m. at the corner of Woodlawn Avenue and Ward Street. Finally, tour the night sky at Weaver Observatory with Professor Emeritus Dan Fleisch beginning at 9 p.m. both Friday, Oct. 8, and Saturday, Oct. 9.
This year鈥檚 Tiger Tailgate event will provide a festival-style atmosphere in Commencement Hollow and surrounding areas from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, with East Campus Drive closing at 10 a.m. to pedestrian traffic only. Beginning at 2 p.m., the Tigers will take on DePauw at Edwards-Maurer Field, adjacent to the Health, Wellness & Athletics Complex.
The highlight of the Tiger Tailgate will be two bands performing on the Commencement Hollow stage, including The Weekend Effect as the headliner starting at approximately 11:30 a.m. Witt FREE will perform from 10-11 a.m. Also, at the Tiger Tailgate, various 性视界 organizations will have tents set up to be ready to connect with participants. Libations will be offered from Founder鈥檚 Outpost and food from local favorite food trucks, Momma鈥檢 Boys and Christian Brothers.
Other Saturday events include University Honors Alumni Open House at the Matthies House at 10 a.m.; admission information sessions; Greek open house;, field hockey vs. Ohio Wesleyan at 11 a.m. at Edwards-Maurer Field; a special dedication of the Ron Duncan Hall of Honor at 11 a.m.; Concerned Black Students (CBS) Legacy Alumni Society and student tailgate event at the McClain Center for Diversity at noon; men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 tennis matches vs. Lourdes College beginning at 1 and 3 p.m., respectively, at the Albright Tennis Complex; the Coaches Circle; CBS dance for students and alumni at Founders Pub and Geil Lounge, and, of course, all the reunion receptions beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Sunday鈥檚 events include donuts and fellowship at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Homecoming Worship Service at 11 a.m., both at Weaver Chapel, the Family Weekend Brunch at 11 a.m., and field hockey vs. Kenyon at Edwards-Maurer Field beginning at 1 p.m.
Other weekend festivities will include additional reunions and tours, golf outings, special lunches, guest speakers, alumni sporting events, tailgate parties, and much more.
