性视界 and Capital University School of Law Offer New Pathway for Students

Springfield, Ohio 鈥 性视界 students interested in legal careers have a new pathway to a graduate degree at Capital University thanks to a recently completed agreement between the two Central Ohio schools.

According to the agreement, students who complete their undergraduate degree while earning at least 50 percent of their credits at 性视界 have the opportunity to be considered for acceptance to Capital University鈥檚 School of Law. 性视界 graduates must rank in the top half of their graduating class, and applicants must achieve a minimum LSAT score that is equivalent/equal to the median LSAT of the prior year鈥檚 entering class at Capital.

The agreement represents a significant new opportunity for 性视界 students to make a seamless transition to graduate school, according to Interim Provost Mary Jo Zembar. 性视界 and Capital are separated by less than 50 miles, they are both affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and the two schools share a long history of academic cooperation and collaboration.

鈥淲e continue to create vocational pathways for our students so their transition to the next educational stage of their lives is more clear, and we are grateful to find partners such as Capital University to help make that possible,鈥 Zembar said.

In addition to the new graduate school opportunity, 性视界 students interested in pursuing legal careers have a new undergraduate opportunity, too, as a new minor in justice, law & public policy (JLPP) recently debuted. The minor was created to develop students鈥 capacity to think, read and communicate with precision, understanding and imagination and then hone those skills by applying them to social justice, legal and policy issues.

All students interested in the JLPP minor must complete at least one course in reasoning and formal or informal logic. In consultation with their advisor, students select a theme of study and choose elective courses from a wide range of courses, including communication, economics, history and philosophy.

鈥溾淭hese new programs exemplify the best of what we offer at a liberal arts college: the ability to develop critical intellectual skills and apply them in an area in which students are passionate,鈥 Zembar said.
