Choosing to join a fraternity or sorority can be a positive experience for students across all areas of academic pursuits and interests.
鈥淛oining a fraternity or sorority is a great way to participate in a variety of activities, such as philanthropy events, sister/brotherhood programs, and community service,鈥 said Kari Murphy, sorority life advisor. 鈥淭aking on a leadership role can enhance your ability to work and communicate with others, and develops experiences for your resume. Students have shared that their membership has given them a group of brothers or sisters to truly experience college with. They are there to support you when you achieve something great and there to pick you up when you鈥檝e had a rough day. Membership extends beyond your collegiate experience and provides an outlet for connection throughout the county.鈥
Fraternities will be recruiting beginning Jan. 25 to Feb. 7 and sororities from Jan. 28-31. There is flexibility in both the sorority and fraternity recruitment schedules, and all recruitment activities will take place virtually this year.
In thinking about joining a fraternity or sorority, keep these questions in mind:

- What specific values and features is the student looking for in a fraternity or sorority?
- What is the time commitment for joining an organization? Are there housing commitments?
- How much is it going to cost to join a Greek-letter organization compared to others?
- On what do the fraternities and sororities spend their money?
- What involvement and leadership opportunities are provided?
- What personal development and community service opportunities are provided?
