鈥溞允咏 is a wonderful place to go to college if you're looking for a tight-knit community with professors who really care about their students.鈥
Hailing from Hilliard, Ohio, Shannon Kelleher, an English major with biology and philosophy minors, understands the power of a liberal arts education.
鈥淚 was originally a biology major, and while I really love science, I have always had a compulsion to read and write. My sophomore year I went to the Duke Marine Lab, which was an awesome experience, but it led me to realize that I wanted to write more than I wanted to practice science. Junior year I became an English major, and inspired by a science and nature writing class I took at the marine lab, I began writing a science column for The Torch.鈥
After graduation, Kelleher will attend Boston University鈥檚 science journalism master鈥檚 program.
Looking to advise future 性视界 students, she encourages them to follow their passions and work the professors, who understand and nurture those passions.
鈥淚 have had so many professors in the English, philosophy, and biology departments who have been inspirational to me and have supported me in figuring out what in the world I want to do with my life. Their enthusiasm in the classroom and their genuine concern for their students have contributed a lot to my experience at 性视界. I'm especially thankful to Dr. Nancy McHugh, Dr. Richards, Dr. Fallon, Dr. Askeland and Dr. Reinsel for all the guidance they provided regarding my academic pursuits and my future after Witt.鈥
