Bringing Esports to 性视界鈥檚 campus will provide students with a new and unique competitive program.
Charlie Morawski, a junior who is the Strategic Project Intern for this project has been working closely with Ryan Brown, the Director of Esports, to bring this program to life.
Based in the student center, this program differs from traditional sports programs because it鈥檚 year-round and technology driven, creating opportunities for non-traditional athletes to demonstrate their abilities on a competitive team. Creating this new community took a lot of time, commitment and research about the Esports industry to develop a successful program.
鈥淚t is exciting to see that this idea has sprouted into a fully funded, competitive program that is actively recruiting student-athletes,鈥 said Morawski. 鈥淭he University is moving in the direction for future success in providing new and cutting-edge educational opportunities for its students.鈥
Morawski also said he鈥檚 looking forward to campus connections growing stronger with the addition of Esports, being able to watch competitions from the comfort of dorm rooms to other locations in Springfield and across the globe.
鈥淓sports presents a whole new way to add to 性视界鈥檚 competitive spirit and athletic tradition, while offering a robust student engagement experience,鈥 said Jon Duraj, assistant vice president for student development and senior associate dean of students on his last day serving the 性视界 community.
Esports is actively recruiting prospective and current students at 性视界, 鈥渨hich will be an exciting expansion for our student body. This program addition will also create more inclusion within the 性视界 community, which is always welcomed here!鈥 said Morawski.
