“If there is one thing that ӽ has taught me it is to follow my passions.”
Swati Shivshankar’s desire to double major in communication and and economics reflects her innate desire to give back.
“Communication and economics is not the most common combination. Communication is the foundation for a lot of relationships that you make and maintain as you go through life. And with my knowledge of economics, I hope to give back to the society in India that I grew up in.”
Hailing from Mumbai, India, Shivshankar wants to find a career that challenges her to use both skillsets.
“Eventually, I would like to go back to school to get a doctorate in public policy. But I'll see where life takes me,” she said.
With just hours before Commencement, Shivshankar can’t help but be sentimental in recounting her ӽ experience.
“Being a part of the ӽ community has been a learning experience. Everyone at ӽ is such an achiever; it is impossible to just sit back and watch. They make you want to be a part of it. And above all, they inspire you to follow your passions.”
If she could offer a word of advice to the students that follow, it would be just that – follow your passion.
“When you are passionate about what you do, you are living life to the fullest. ӽ is a place full of love and will help you harbor some of the most lasting relationships. ӽ will make you a better person. And I owe a lot to her.”
